FAQs

Fora Natural cleaning products reusable bottles

How to use

Can you give us a rundown on how your cleaners work?
Our starter kits come with a reusable Forever bottle and a powder cleaner refill in a home compostable sachet. Simply empty the refill contents into the bottle, add 500ml tap water slowly and replace the spray nozzle. Give the bottle a little shake and you’re all set!

Should I use warm or cold water?
We would recommend using warm water, but Fora’s cleaner refills will dissolve in any water temperature.

Is it normal for there to be some foaming when I add water to the powder?
Yep. The solution will foam up a little due to the surfactants (soap) in the cleaner. Ways to reduce the foaming are to add the tap water slowly, make sure the spray nozzle is set to OFF (X), and just give a little shake. The refill contents will dissolve in a few minutes, and you’ll be ready to clean.

How should I use Fora’s Multi-Purpose cleaner?
Fora’s Multi-Purpose cleaner has been designed to effectively remove dirt, grease and grime from your kitchen and other surfaces around the home. It’s perfect for daily use as part of your general clean. Simply spray, leave for a few seconds, then wipe away with a clean cloth. The cleaner
can be used on most sealed surfaces, if in doubt, test in a discreet spot.  Please also feel free to contact us with any queries at hello@shopfora.co.nz we’re happy to help.

How should I use Fora’s Bathroom cleaner?
Fora’s Bathroom Cleaner is best used for soap scum and grime, leaving tiles, bathtubs and taps sparkling clean and smelling fresh. Spray, leave for a few seconds then wipe away to get your bathroom gleaming! The cleaner can be used on most sealed surfaces, if in doubt, test in a discreet spot.

What’s the deal with the trigger sprays?
While the trigger sprays are plastic, we have purposefully chosen ones that do not have metal parts (springs) that would make them unrecyclable.

We suggest turning the nozzle to the closed position (X) before putting the trigger spray back on after dissolving the powder, this will reduce the risk of leakage. If your trigger spray jams or breaks for some reason, please let us know and we will send you a replacement. We want to help to make sure that our Forever bottles are living up to their name! Our cleaning formula

How are your cleaners fragranced? Do your products contain any artificial dyes or colours?

The fragrance used in Fora’s products is an essential oil blend, we do not use any artificial fragrances. We don’t use any synthetic dyes in our products either.

Essential oils have antimicrobial properties, and our blends will make your home smell amazing. As is the case with essential oils, they include some known allergens: Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Geraniol, Limonene and Linalool.

Are your products Vegan and Cruelty-Free?
Yes, Fora products have the PETA ‘Animal Test-Free and Vegan’ certification and we are part of their ‘Beauty without Bunnies’ program. We would never use animal derived ingredients in our formulations, and we are strongly against animal testing.

Are Fora products free from harmful chemicals?
Yes, the products consist of plant-based surfactants and are biodegradable, septic tank and greywater safe. We avoid any harmful chemicals such as SLS, Phthalates, Phosphates, Triclosan,
Parabens, Ammonia, Chlorine, artificial dyes or fragrances.

Are Fora products antibacterial?
No, they’re not. Fora products are effective plant-based cleaners, not disinfectants. We don’t use any harsh chemicals. Rest assured our cleaners will remove bacteria from surfaces and keep your home sparkling clean.

Where are Fora products made?
Our cleaning powders are manufactured and packaged locally in Auckland, and we proudly carry the Buy NZ Made trademark.

Our packaging

Are your bottles recyclable?
Fora’s beautiful cleaning bottles are designed to be kept and refilled, so you never have to dispose of your Forever bottle. If you do happen to dispose of your bottle, then you can be happy in the knowledge that our bottles are made of aluminium which can be infinitely recycled. We really hope you love your bottles as much as we do and keep them forever as their intended use.

Is the Forever bottle empty?
Yes, our aluminium bottles will be empty when they arrive with you. You'll just need to empty the refill sachet into the bottle, add water from your tap, then you're ready to clean! Typical cleaning products are 90% water, that's a huge amount of water and unneccessary weight being shipped around. When you need, we will post you more of our lightweight, home compostable refills. Zero water shipped.

Can I use my own bottle?
Yes, of course! We highly recommend that you use our beautifully branded bottles, but if you already have a 500ml refillable bottle in use and want to try our cleaner refills then please go ahead.

How do I properly dispose of the Fora refill sachets?
Fora refill sachets are made from home compostable materials. The sachets can be cut up into small pieces and added to your home compost (best practice if you want them to compost faster). We consulted with experts (Go Well Consulting) and considered the impacts and outcomes of this packaging. Based on a use case of our packaging we decided that this was the best option. Check out our composting blog for tips and tricks for setting up your own compost at home. Do not put into your paper/plastic recycling.

How long will each Fora refill last?
Each sachet should last for the same amount of time as a typical cleaning alternative and will depend on how often you clean and the size of your house. Bearing in mind that you may be inclined to clean more often with our products!

How should I store my refill sachets?
Please store your refills in a cool, dry place.

What is the shelf life of the refills?
The shelf life of the refills is three years from the date of manufacture. Please get in touch if you want to check this date.

What's next?

Will you be making other refill products?
Yes, for sure! We’ve got a refillable dishwashing liquid in the pipeline. Watch this space for the launch and for other refillable products to help reduce single-use plastic waste.
